Provides specialized instruction for students needing functional living skills in the areas of communications, prevocational, daily living, community skills, recreation/leisure, occupational preparation, and work-study.
DEAF EDUCATION
Provides individualized instruction with a total communication approach to increase understanding and skills in academics, communication, and vocational areas.

TAKS English Language Arts (L190)

This course emphasizes the skills necessary for excelling on TAKS ELA. Placement is based on test scores and individual needs.

TAKS Prep (L275)
½ credit- Grade 11
This one semester course emphasizes the skills in English, math, science, and social studies necessary for excelling on the state-required assessment. Placement is based on test scores and individual student needs.
½ credit – Grades 11-12
This course includes strategies and skills in English, Writing & Math to help students increase their scores on college entrance exams. Many practice tests are given.
Academic Decathlon (L805)
½ credit – Grades 10-12
Students have the opportunity to study ten subjects in the areas of math, language, literature, science, music, social studies, art, and super quiz. Students will use critical-thinking skills to locate, organize, analyze, and use data collected from a variety of sources and subjects. Communication skills are essential as there are events in speech and interview. Decision-making is an important element in this course. Written skills are tested in an essay. Extensive reading is required.

Prerequisite: Application and approval
A cluster course designed to introduce the basic concepts and skills needed for general office positions. Instruction and skill development are provided in keyboarding, filing, financial activities, office machines, and securing and maintaining employment. This course provides entry-level employment skills for the office or for advancement into further skill training courses.
