Mariah Loth, a freshman at Crossland Ninth Grade Center, medaled at the Visual Art Scholastic Event state competition held April 13-14 at Bryan High School. She received a top rating of 4 for her project. Scoring was based on an artwork evaluation and a student interview. Of 24,000 entries at regional VASE events throughout Texas , 1,430 qualified for the state contest. Of those, only 850 received state medals.
