Welcome! |
I am Samantha Barnett, and I am in my seventh year of teaching. I am very excited to be entering my fourth year of teaching 2nd grade. I love Oak Woods, my rocking team members, the exemplary students, and the positive environment that surrounds it all! To give you a little background on myself, I was born to Sam and Peggy Fothergill on November 8, 1978, in Fort Worth, Texas. I grew up with my younger sister, Melissa, in Burleson and graduated from BHS in 1997. I received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Services & Development/Industry & Extension from Tarleton State University in 2001. I worked in the accounts receivable and credit departments at Ben E. Keith Foods in Ft. Worth until May 2006 and then went back to Tarleton full-time to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a teacher by completing my alternative teacher certification through the TMATE program. I'm completing my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Elementary Education. My husband Robert, son Blake, and stepdaughter Kaitlin live in Cleburne and enjoy spending as much time together as possible being outdoors, attending church functions, participating in Blake's baseball activities, watching racing both live and on TV, hanging out with our families, and rooting for our beloved Texas Rangers. My sister and brother-in-law, Patrick, gave me two nieces that I absolutely adore! Elizabeth is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade at Grandview Elementary and Brianna is a feisty 3 1/2 year old who keeps everyone on their toes. I am super excited to be a Granbury ISD parent. Kait is in 6th grade at Acton Middle School. Blake turned 8 on August 16 and is in 2nd Grade at Oak Woods!! We all learn in different ways and at different paces. My philosophy of education is that EVERY person can learn. In my classroom, we will soar for success and reach for the stars on our journey of learning together with differentiated lessons and activities to reach EVERY student. I believe that parents are a huge part of the learning environment, too, and look forward to having a super parent-teacher-student relationship. This 2012-2013 school year is going to be awesome! My door is always open, and the line of communication is never busy. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me. Let's have a great year together! |
