Have you ever thought about what it would be like to sail the open seas, discover a secret tunnel, or be a detective searching for just the right clue to solve a difficult case? Reading can take you places you have never been before! You never know what kind of exciting adventure may lay ahead of you between the covers of a book.
Every day, every student has the opportunity to silently read their self-selected book while in the classroom. I require that my students also read aloud to or with a fluent reader daily at home for 10 to 20 minutes from reading materials of their choice. This will have an awesome impact on each individual's classroom performance in every subject, not to mention expanding their knowledge and vocabulary for life. I encourage parents to model reading at home, too. Pick up a book today. You never know where it might take you!
