Bad Weather Notification Procedures
 

As we approach the winter season, we may experience inclement weather that could possibly cause our schools to open late or to close.  The following procedures will be followed if this becomes necessary.

 

During inclement weather, a decision will be made by 6:00 A.M. to delay or to close schools.  A notice will immediately be posted on the Granbury ISD website at www.granburyisd.org.  Announcements will also be posted on the district Facebook and Twitter pages.

The district will send an automated phone call to all parents.  Please ensure that the school has your correct phone numbers.  To provide updates, a Student Information Change Form may be downloaded from www.granburyisd.org/parentcenter and submitted to your child’s campus office.

Parents who have subscribed to the district website will receive an e-alert by email.  Click here for instructions on how you can subscribe to the website.  By subscribing, you can receive not only weather updates but also information on your child’s classes and activities.

 

In addition, the decision will be sent to the news media, including the Hood County News, KPIR Radio, Granbury TV (Channel 27 on Charter Cable), and major regional television and radio stations.  Granbury ISD cannot guarantee that the media will report the decision.  Thus, it is wise to check multiple media sources as well as refer to the GISD website.

 

In the event the school opening is delayed, the notice will be given as an amount of time, i.e. "School will start 2 hours late."  This sample message indicates that all schedules, including buses, will be operating two hours later than the normal operating time.

 

Our primary concern is for the safety of our students and staff.  If your child is tardy due to hazardous roads, please contact your child's principal and an excused tardy/absence will be issued.

 

Should schools be closed, students will then report for classes on bad weather make-up days.  These days are (in order):

  • Friday, April 6, 2012
