The Texas High School Coaches Association recently announced the 2011 Academic All-State Football teams. Seven members of the Granbury Pirate football team were honored with selection to one of the teams.- Second Team: Brent Condit, Quade Gibson
- Honorable Mention: Slade Boynton, Michael Horn, Tyler Jones, Dakota Morgan, Nick Tull
The teams are selected by a system that awards points for grade point average, class rank, and SAT or ACT score. The student-athletes are placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.
Criteria required to be nominated is: be a senior with an overall GPA of 92 or above, including grades 9-12 and the first six weeks of grade 12; be a member of the team in good standing at the time of nomination; be of good moral character.
The THSCA program is in its eleventh year and has steadily grown to over two thousand applicants.
