STATE TROOPER RECOGNIZED FOR SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK

Trooper Randel Wilson of the Texas Department of Public Safety was recognized by the Granbury ISD Board of Trustees for his assistance with the school’s transportation department during National School Bus Safety Week.  The recognition came during the school board meeting on November 14, 2011.

 

The state trooper shadowed school buses during the annual observance, which was marked this year on October 17-21.  The<n October 17-21.  rovided assistance the annual observance, which marked this year  came during the school board meeting on Novt emphasis is intended to remind motorists of the importance of following the rules of the road and stopping when the red lights flash and the stop sign deploys to allow children to board or exit the school bus.

 

With sixty percent of GISD students riding a school bus, the transportation department safely transports over 3,500 students to and from school each day.  Bus drivers make 2,600 daily stops over the entire school district, which encompasses 254 square miles primarily in the eastern two-thirds of Hood County.
