PIRATE BAND SETS SUMMER CAMP

Angelum; Light and Dark
The Granbury High School Pirate Band will begin preparation for the fall marching season during a summer band camp beginning on Monday, July 30, 2012.
 
All band students will report 7:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. daily through the beginning of school year, which starts on Monday, August 27.
 
This year’s marching show “Angelum – Light and Dark” will feature music by John Rutter, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pietro Mascagni, Ottorino Respighi, and Claude Debussy.
 
Band registration will be held on Thursday, August 2 for all students and parents, and a social and performance for parents is planned for Thursday, August 23 at 6:30 P.M.
 
The band will be competing this fall at the USBands Burleson Showcase and the Birdville ISD Marching Festival prior to the UIL regional marching contest on Saturday, October 20 in Burleson. The ensemble will later participate in the Frisco Centennial Marching Festival set for early November. In addition, the drumline expects to compete at competitions in Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Flower Mound again this year.

During the summer camp, the band will follow the heat and hot weather procedures developed by GHS athletic trainers. The procedures are available at www.granburyisd.org/piratesportsmedicine.
 
The band will be under the field direction of the 2012-13 drum majors:  seniors Phoebe Wallace and Katelyn Tigner along with junior Ashleen Atchue.
 
Band director Mark Eastin is assisted by Tahlequah Kirk as well as returning middle school directors John Morgan and Roger Ramsey. Joining the band staff are two new directors – Josh Hawks at GMS and Gentry Ragsdale at AMS.
