Bailey Spencer, a recent graduate of Granbury High School, has added to her honors following her senior year with the Lady Pirate softball team.
The Texas Sports Writers Association chose her for the organization’s Class 4A All-State team.
This followers her selection to the All-State softball team for Class 4A and 5A players by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
A four-year varsity letterman, Spencer set school records during the 2012 season with a .627 batting average, .672 on-base percentage, 9 home runs, and 39 RBIs, according to head coach Chad Kimberling.
This year, she was named District 7-4A offensive player of the year as well as the team’s most valuable player. She received first-team all-district honors as a junior in 2011, when she was also the Lady Pirate offensive player of the year and co-defensive player of the year.
She will be continuing her education and playing career at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. The Lady Pioneers compete in Region 2 of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
"The fact that she’s building off a season like she had has to do wonders for her confidence going into college,” said Kimberling. “She not only had a good season, she had a great season, and other people noticed as well. She’s going to be a great college player.”
