A new set of drum majors will be leading the GHS Pirate Band for the 2012-13 school year.
Senior Phoebe Wallace is the head drum major and will be assisted by senior Katelyn Tigner and junior Ashleen Atchue. Wallace was also a drum major last school year.
This year’s marching show “Angelum – Light and Dark” will feature music by John Rutter, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pietro Mascagni, Ottorino Respighi, and Claude Debussy.
The band will be competing this fall at the USBands Burleson Showcase and the Birdville ISD Marching Festival prior to the UIL regional marching contest on Saturday, October 20 in Burleson. The ensemble will later participate in the Frisco Centennial Marching Festival set for early November.
In addition, the drumline expects to compete at competitions in Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Flower Mound again this year.
