Six Granbury ISD employees will be starting the 2012-13 school year in campus leadership positions as assistant principals.
The new campus administrators are: Kristie Berryman, Acton Middle School; Shannon Dildy, Oak Woods School; Jimmy Heffernan, Emma Roberson Elementary School; Jincy Ross, Granbury Middle School; Leslie Tewell, Crossland Ninth Grade Center; and Karla Willmeth, Acton Elementary School.
Named the GISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2010, Berryman has taught English/language arts and served as an instructional specialist at GMS since 2006. She graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1997 and received her Masters of Education from Lamar University in 2010.
Dildy completed her undergraduate work at Dallas Baptist University in 2002 and later earned a Master of Education at Southern Methodist University in 2008. She was the instructional specialist at Oak Woods, where she also taught kindergarten beginning in 2009. Prior to coming to Granbury, Dildy was a teacher and reading specialist at Charlotte Anderson Elementary School in Arlington.
Heffernan is coming to Roberson from Granbury High School, where has been a math teacher since 2009. He previously taught math and coached at Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, Colleyville Heritage High School, West Mesquite High School, Clint High School, and Union Grove High School. Heffernan received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education from Lamar University in 2011.
Moving from the counselor’s office at GMS to the AP position is Ross, who came to Granbury in 2010. She previously served as a school counselor and band director in Colorado City, and she also taught band in Coahoma. Ross graduated from McMurry University in 1996 and received a Master of Education in 2005.
Tewell is not new to the assistant principal position, having served in that role and as instructional specialist at Oak Woods since 2006. She first came to Granbury in 2004 as a reading teacher at AMS, following three years as a third grade teacher at Lakewood Elementary School in Euless. Tewell received her undergraduate degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master of Education from Tarleton State University.
Willmeth has been in GISD since 2006, working as an English/language arts and reading teacher at both GMS and AMS. She also served as instructional specialist at AMS. Her first job was teaching physical education and coaching gymnastics at Abilene High School, where she worked before coming to Granbury. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Education from Lamar University.
They will not be the only new faces in school offices this fall. GISD has three new principals as well – Dana Goode, Mambrino School; Anna Roe, Acton Elementary School; and Pat Yelverton, Granbury Middle School.
