Granbury ISD is seeking volunteers from local businesspeople and community members to join the district’s new Speakers Bureau – a chance for the Granbury and Hood County community to share their knowledge and experiences with GISD schoolchildren.
“Strong schools work hand in hand with a strong community and strong local businesses,” stated GISD superintendent Dr. James Largent at a recent Granbury Chamber of Commerce luncheon, announcing the Speakers Bureau. Largent indicated his desire to create a partnership with the business community and civic leaders.
With an online form, registrants are asked for their contact information and also to designate their topic(s) and the age level of students that they would like to address. When lessons or events require speakers, teachers and other school personnel can utilize the list to invite community members to speak.
Retired individuals and community volunteers are welcome to participate.
