A team of local businesspeople and other community leaders are continuing to take a big role in shaping Granbury ISD career and technical education programs. The group gathered with teachers during a reception at the Lake Granbury Medical Center professional building on August 22, 2012.
The Business Education Success Team (BEST), which is coordinated with the help of the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, helps develop quality instructional partnerships with business and industry to successfully prepare students for the challenges of post-secondary education and a globally competitive workplace.
“Schools cannot accomplish their academic goals alone, and involving local business partners is critical to their growth and in preparing them for future success,” said the district’s CTE director Judy Gentry. “The BEST team allows schools and businesses to work together to develop activities to meet the needs of the school and impact workforce development in our community.”
Current BEST team members are: Dan Ames, A&A Welding; Barry and Annette Beadle, Total Equipment; Carrie Bellamy, Edward Jones; Kathryne Bosco, H-E-B; Ron Cullers, Ron Cullers Automotive; Roger Deeds, Hood County Sheriff; Mitch Galvan, Granbury Police Department; Todd Garner, Henson’s Lumber; Scott Haynes, Team Financial Strategies; Tammy Hickey, Town and Country Bank; Scott McCall, veterinarian; Kevin Myers, Lake Granbury Medical Center; Brent Northcutt, Farmers Insurance; David Orcutt, Lake Granbury Medical Center; Jeanne Rodgers, Luminant; Dr. David Russell, Weatherford College; Mike Scott, Granbury Chamber of Commerce; Vern Walker, Texas EMS; and Kevin Williams, Jerry Durant Toyota.
