Eighth graders at Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School will soon be preparing for the transition to Crossland Ninth Grade Center in the 2010-11 school year.
The two middle schools will have presentations on Thursday, March 4, 2010, to hear about elective courses offered at Crossland and Granbury High School. These classes include athletics, fine arts, career and technology education, foreign languages, speech and debate, and yearbook. At the meetings, students will also receive course selection sheets. The presentation at AMS will be 9:00-11:30 A.M. with the GMS presentation to follow that day at 1:30-3:30 P.M.
Crossland counselors will be hosting an informational meeting beginning at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 9 in the school cafeteria and gym. The session will include information on graduation plans, career clusters, and course selections. In addition to the Crossland staff, others scheduled to make presentations are career and technology education director Judy Gentry as well as elective teachers.
The freshman counselors will return to the middle schools following Spring Break to assist students with completing their 2010-11 course selection sheets. Those dates are March 22-23 for AMS and March 24-25 for GMS. The meetings will be held in school computer labs during history classes.
Parents will be invited back to Crossland on Wednesday, April 7 for the principal’s monthly bag brown lunch. The session, which will feature presentations by the Crossland counselors and Gentry, will also include a time for questions.
