Several Granbury ISD staff members were among Hood County residents who took time on September 9, 2011, to honor fallen patriot, U.S. Army specialist PFC Jesse Dietrich.

Dietrich’s funeral procession traveled through Granbury from a church in Mansfield en route to a cemetery in the small Comanche County town of Gustine.  The procession was led by the Patriot Guard Riders, a motorcycle club who members attend the funerals of members of the military, firefighters, and police officers at the invitation of the deceased’s family.

According to the Hood County News, Dietrich died August 25 as a result of injuries sustained in Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire.

Among the GISD staff paying their respects were GISD transportation employees, who regularly wear red shirts on Fridays to honor U.S. armed services personnel.
