The Granbury Pirates dominated the Carrollton R.L. Turner Lions in the football home opener on September 9, 2011.
The 40-20 victory marked the team’s first win of the season.
Quarterback Nick Fotu had three passing touchdowns with a total of 185 yards completing 9 of 14 passes. He connected with receiver Clayton Adams on the opening play of the game for a 67-yard touchdown pass. Fotu also found running back Brandon Davis twice – a 50-yard score late in the second quarter and again on a 12-yard reception in the third quarter.
Fotu also had a rushing touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. Also running for scores were Justice Love (21-yard run in second quarter) and Travis Hord (39-yard run in third quarter).
In addition to his receiving scores, Davis rushed for 116 yards on 14 carries. Love had a total of 9 runs for 81 yards. Others with receiving yardage were Conner Green (1-29), Love (1-13), Ayden Broadwater (2-8), Hord (1-4), and Briley Wood (1-2).
Michael Horn also made four extra-point kicks.
Defensively, the Pirates held the Turner offense to just 29 rushing yards with team racking up three sacks and an interception by Michael Brawley.
