The team began in early August and competed against Alvarado, Aledo, North Crowley, Weatherford, and Saginaw prior to beginning district play. Hot temperatures cancelled one meet versus Mansfield and led to time delays in several others.
So far in district, the GHS team has posted victories over Cleburne (13-6), Joshua (17-2), and Everman (19-0) in addition to the most recent win over Seguin. Still remaining are Crowley, Burleson, and Mansfield Summit before the district playoffs begin in mid-October.
Held in the fall, team tennis involves a combination of matches featuring boys’ singles, girls’ singles, boys’ doubles, girls’ doubles, and mixed doubles. Last year, the team ended district play with a 6-1 record and tied with Burleson.
