

High school golf teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and other areas recently traveled to Granbury to compete in an invitational tournaments hosted by the Pirate and Lady Pirate golf squads at Harbor Lakes Golf Club and DeCordova Bend Country Club.
At the Lady Pirate Fall Classic at Harbor Lakes on September 30-October 1, 2011, Colleyville was the top team with a two-day total of 623. Granbury High School girls playing were Chelsy Childress, Chelsea Judge, Birkley Langen, Christine Taylor, and Natalie Willingham.
The top GHS boys team came within a single stroke of winning the Brazos Classic on October 3 held at both Harbor Lakes and DeCordova. With a score of 612 over the 36-hole tourney, Aledo edged the Granbury five-member squad composed of Travis Benson, Austin Kinsey, Zac Wall, Derek Williams, and Patrick Wilson. Kinsey and Benson placed second and third on an individual basis with scores of 144 (71-73) and 147 (74-73) respectively.
Other boys playing were Lane Ballinger, Briggs Berry, Ian Chancellor, Justin Eason, Chase Green, Korey Keeton, Harrison Knight, Mason Meek, Jagar Mellencamp, Jordan Ottaway, Dan Prescott, Patrick Sauer, Cy Sonderer, Sam Sonderer, Riley Summer, and Baker White.
