Behind senior running back Brandon Davis, the Granbury Pirates won their third straight home football game – this time over the Arlington Seguin Cougars on October 14, 2011.

The win marked the team’s third win of the season and kept their playoff hopes alive as they continue District 7-4A play.

Offensively, the Pirates had 422 yards, and Davis was responsible for a whopping 283 of them on 37 carries.  The GHS senior scored four touchdowns, including one run for 43 yards and another for 67.

Also scoring was Justice Love on a 1-yard run.  Quarterback Slade Boynton ran for one two-point conversion (pictured above) and connected with receiver Clayton Adams for another.

Boynton, filling in for an injured Nick Fotu, completed 7 of 9 passes for 93 yards.  Players with receiving yardage were Clayton Adams (3-52), Travis Hord (2-17), Love (1-15), and Briley Wood (1-9).  In addition to Davis, rushers were Love (13-39), Hord (1-4), and Fotu (2-3).

The Pirate defense made some key plays in the fourth quarter to keep the Cougars from catching up – including a quarterback sack by Johnny Shepard on Seguin’s final play in the closing seconds.

The Pirates next face the Crowley Eagles in a road game on Friday, October 21 beginning at 7:30 P.M.  For a complete schedule, go to www.granburyisd.org/piratefootball.
