The playoff-bound Lady Pirates are rolling through District 7-4A play, posting ten straight wins and a 10-1 record.  The latest win came on October 14, 2011, when the girls defeated the Arlington Seguin Lady Cougars – and also took time to honor Granbury High School faculty members.

GHS teachers honored prior to the game were Michelle Bitner, Tammy Bodine, Angie Ecton, Becky Grohman, Leah Haley, Tonya Johnson, Josh Jones, Trey Keys, Cindy Leatherman, Jennifer Moss, Nate Newton, Melinda Rose, Mike Tabor, and Nick Vollmer.  Also recognized was Crossland Ninth Grade Center teacher Trisha Bagby.

For the final home game of the regular season October 18, the Lady Pirates are joining with the Granbury ISD athletic department to support Hood County Christmas for Children.  In lieu of admission, spectators are encouraged to make toy or cash donations to the local charitable organization, which provides Christmas gifts and bicycles each December to children from families with economic need.

Freshman and junior varsity squads begin their matches at 5:30 P.M., with the varsity starting at 6:30 P.M. at the GHS James Wann Sports Center.

October 18 is also Senior Night, and four Lady Pirates - Laiken Britt, Madison Martin, Kathryn Middlebrook, and Sierra Smith - will be recognized prior to the start of the varsity game.

Following Tuesday's game, the girls will finish the regular season on the road at Crowley on October 21 and at Joshua on October 25.

The 2011 varsity court consists of Laiken Britt, Alexis Carpenter, Sydney Carpenter, Blair Cowden, Aubrey Ezell, Shannon Helm, Paige Holt, Madison Martin, Amy Mendoza, Kathryn Middlebrook, Sierra Smith, and Jenna Underwood.

Head coach Tammy Clark is assisted by Jennifer Moss, Jesse Kulczycki, Mallory Smith, and athletic trainer Connie Rhodes.
