LADY PIRATES WIN ROUND 1 IN VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS

The district champion Lady Pirates began the 2011 volleyball playoffs with a bi-district victory over the Killeen Lady Roos on November 1, 2011.  The girls won the match in three games (25-13, 25-8, 25-13) at Hamilton High School.

 

The team advances to the area round and will face the Saginaw Boswell Lady Pioneers on Thursday, November 3.  The match will begin at 6:00 P.M. at Weatherford High School (moved from the original site of Weatherford Ninth Grade Center).

 

The girls ended district play with a 13-1 record, having posted thirteen straight wins for their second straight District 7-4A championship.  Their only loss came in the first district game versus the Burleson Lady Elks on September 9.  Since then, the Lady Pirates have been on a winning streak – including a drubbing of Burleson at home on October 4.

 

The varsity court includes Laiken Britt, Alexis Carpenter, Sydney Carpenter, Blair Cowden, Aubrey Ezell, Shannon Helm, Paige Holt, Madison Martin, Amy Mendoza, Kathryn Middlebrook, Sierra Smith, and Jenna Underwood.  Moving up from the junior varsity squad were Kali Jones, Caitlyn Thatcher, and Kylie Wheeler.

 

Head coach Tammy Clark is assisted by Jennifer Moss, Jesse Kulczycki, and Mallory Smith.  Statistician/managers are Tori Townsend and Justin Washburn. Sports medicine duties are handled by athletic trainer Connie Rhodes and student trainer Katie Siegler.
