The Granbury Pirates are headed back to the Class 4A football playoffs for the second year in a row, after the team earned third place in District 7-4A and the top seed in the Division I postseason.

The Pirates will face the Killeen Kangaroos in the bi-district playoffs on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Baylor University’s Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco beginning at 7:00 P.M.  Advance tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students, and all tickets are $9 at the gate.

Despite a 35-7 loss to Mansfield Summit in the regular season finale on November 4, Granbury finished the season with a 5-5 overall record and a 4-3 district record.  The team scored wins over Carrollton R.L. Turner in pre-district action and later over district foes Joshua, Arlington Seguin, Crowley, and Burleson.

This marks the Pirates’ second-straight playoff appearance.  The team advanced in 2010 – it had been the first bi-district appearance since 1977 and the first postseason play since 1987, when the team competed in a zone playoff game.
