GHS, CROSSLAND FINE ARTS STUDENTS SHINE WITH MUSICAL

Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center students in fine arts programs shined during the presentation of the musical Brigadoon on February 3-5, 2012.
Based on a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, the story centers on a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. The villagers view it as a blessing, believing that the enchantment will be broken if anyone ever leaves. The arrival of two lost American tourists has serious implications for the village’s inhabitants.
Zach Payne and Katie Fee led the cast in the starring roles, which also included Blake Bridges, Brent Condit, Xan Cramer, Tori Townsend, Chase Whittet, and Natalie Willingham.
Rounding out the cast were Blake Bergeman, Cody Bridges, Josh Carpenter, Blair Cowden, Peter Dowd, Brooke Goodson, Hailey Hart, Dakota Medlin, P.J. Mullen, Nathaniel Milson, Joel Reid, Abby Ritchmond, Deanna Rupp, Joseph Townsend, Carley White, and Izzy Woods.
Other chourus members were Mandy Brenning, Clarissa Jackson, Jonathan Jasper, Katrice Jonnson, Makenzie Kane, Kaitlen Meinershagen, Alec Mullen, Brayden Redden, Rachael Rodgers, Jessica Singer, Katie Singer, Mariya Swann, Sofie Taylor, Kelsey Timmins, and Bailey Youngs.
The musical was directed and produced by fine arts teachers Joy Hope, Greg Doss, and Phil Groeschel. Technical coordinator was Michael Patrick Huntington Orsini (who doubled as a bagpiper) with choreography by Josh Collins and Erin Leigh O’Toole.
Stage management was handled by Jamie George, Kayla Godfrey, Brooke Mason, and Shyla Quinlan. Other crew members were: sound board operators – Mike Bridges and Bob Peacock; light board operators – Katelyn Andrews, William Black, Dylan Kebbs, Luke Sandelin; additional running crew – Torin Murphy, Samuel Pixley, Daniel Witt.
Instrumental musicians in the orchestra were Hunter Beck, Christine Bridges, Stephen Carver, Jeremy Bowen, Peyton Bloodgood, Collen Castaneda, Carolyn Delacruz, Mallory Grober, Jonathan Hooper, Tim Hope, Scott Johnson, Zach Morgan, Ron Porch, Chase Rogers, Sarah Smith, Cathy Terrel, and Phoebe Wallace.
Parents, choir boosters, and others involved with the musical were April Brenning, Gaylene Carpenter, Kendall Condit, Mary Fullins, Dana Gonzalez, David Johnson, Patti Johnson, Danene Mhoon, Mary Mullen, Ellen O’Toole, Jana Reid, Jeanne Rodgers, Larry Rupp, Jeannie Rupp, Barbara Townsend, Todd Whitley, Missy Whittet, and Judy Willingham.
