GHS BAND STUDENTS PERFORM WELL AT SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST

Treble ClefBand students from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center recently competed in the UIL Region 7 solo and ensemble contest.  The competition was held February 18, 2012, at Crowley High School.

 

Five soloists are advancing to the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest on May 26-28 in Austin.

 

Soloists earning a trip to state were:  French horn – Zach Morgan; percussion – Brandon Danz-Shepherd, Justin Kochis, Garrett Williams; saxophone – Trevor Swingle.

 

Other soloists earning a Division I superior rating were:  Ashleen Atchue, oboe; Hunter Beck, trumpet; Peyton Bloodgood, trumpet; Colleen Castenada, percussion; Chandler Chiappe, percussion; Jessica Garza, French horn; Cameron Hastings, saxophone; Alissa Jillson, flute; Kayla Jumper, bassoon; Jinhee Kim, clarinet; Kelly Lyden, flute; John Norton, baritone; Kendon Parker, tuba; Ralph Reyna, trumpet; Chase Rogers, clarinet; Britt Sherrell, saxophone; Randy Sillivent, percussion; Sarah Smith, bassoon; Collin Turney, tuba; Sam Tyra, percussion; Alex Waters, clarinet; Garrett Whitmer, saxophone.

 

A flute ensemble composed of Jocelyn Espinosa, Elizabeth Hull, Alondra Martinez, and Bailey Trewin also earned a Division I superior rating.

 

Soloists receiving a Division II excellent rating were:  Stephen Carver, trumpet; Andrew Collins, trumpet; Cody Curtis, saxophone; BreAnne Daly, percussion; Emily Hiler, flute; Adam Lubbers, trombone; Josh Musser, percussion; Joe Norton, French horn; Shannon Rohde, bass clarinet; Katelyn Tigner, flute.
