LADY PIRATES SHUT OUT CARTER-RIVERSIDE ON ROAD TO SECTIONALS

The Lady Pirate soccer team shut out Fort Worth Carter-Riverside 4-0 in the Class 4A area playoffs on April 3, 2012, at Fort Worth ISD’s Scarborough-Handley Stadium.
 
Advancing to the sectional playoff round, Granbury will face the Burleson Lady Elks at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 6 at Burleson Stadium.
 
The Lady Pirates won the District 15-4A title for the second year in a row and defeated Crowley 1-0 in the bi-district playoff on March 30.
 
Varsity team members are Kim Bantz,Sydney Barnette, Mallory Bersi, Aubrey Caudle, Bailee Dawson, Ashley Dyson, Alex Grossman, Ashley Harris, McKenzie Harrison, Riley Hatch, Courtney Heathington, Hannah Hiler, Maggie McKenna, Lily Middleton, Tess Miller, Sarah Phillips, Gentry Railsback, Lydia Rife, and Kelci Slaughter.
 
Junior varsity players moving up for the post-season are Ariel Davila, McKayla Davis, Evan Jefferson, Tori Mayer, Catherine Vasquez, Jayci Welch, and Kaitlin Winkleman.
 
Head coach David Winkleman is assisted by Leah Gibson and Becky Grohman. Sports medicine duties are handled by athletic trainer Connie Rhodes as well as student trainer Paige Tull.
