School Library Month “You Belong @ Your Library” is the 2012 theme of School Library Month, which is observed annually each April.

First held in 1985, School Library Month is the American Association of School Librarians' celebration of school librarians and their programs.  Every April, school librarians hold activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school library programs play in a student's educational career.

School libraries ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. Librarians provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the library is an integral part of the school instructional program. Libraries contribute to the individual growth and development of all students while fostering both excellence and equity in education.

GISD school librarians are:  Granbury High School – Tammy Burns; Acton Middle School – Lyn Goodgion; Granbury Middle School – Jill Brown; Acton Elementary School – Menielle Donahoo; Baccus Elementary School – Kim Young; Brawner Intermediate School – Ann Van Zandt; Mambrino School – Nancy Moore; Oak Woods School – Lissa Oliver; and Roberson Elementary School – Shelley Statler.
