Track and field student athletes from Granbury High School and Crossland Ninth Grade Center recently competed at the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held March 28-31, 2012, at the University of Texas at Austin. The elite tournament is one of the most prestigious track and field meets in the country.
Pole vaulter Madison Northcutt, a senior, placed sixth after vaulting 11’6”. The GHS senior is looking for her third-straight trip to the UIL state track and field meet – where she won bronze as a sophomore in 2010.
Meanwhile, runner Brandon Davis clocked 11.07 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Also competing was a girls 1600-meter relay team composed of Alexis Carpenter, Shelby Cline, Jennifer Krieg, and Tori Mayer. The squad finished with an overall time of 4:26.81 in the prelims.
A boys 1600-meter relay team of Jacob Cain, Travis Hord, Chris Richardson, and Kwaun Shaw completed their race with a time of 3:29.95.
Both the Pirates and Lady Pirates are preparing for the district tournament scheduled for April 11-12 in Joshua.
