Six members of the Pirate and Lady Pirate tennis team are advancing to regional competition after the District 7-4A tournament held April 4-5, 2012, at Texas Christian University.
The players advancing are:
- Girls Singles: Kate Bramlett (district champ), Elizabeth Morton (district runner-up)
- Girls Doubles: Alyssa Tigner and Megan Wright (district runners-up)
- Mixed Doubles: Christopher Kelley and Kasi Krieger (district champs)
Among the group, three will be competing at regionals for the second time. Bramlett, a sophomore, was a contender last year with her older brother, James, in mixed doubles competition. Tigner and Wright – both juniors – also advanced in the girls doubles contest in 2011.
Kelley, a senior, is advancing for the first time along with junior Krieger and sophomore Morton.Also placing at the district meet were: girls doubles – Sophie Mullen and Fiona Murphy, third; boys singles – Peter Mueller, fourth; Joel Rodgers, quarterfinalist; boys doubles – Chandler Chiappe and Noah Smith, round of 16; Matt Golba and Thomas Tigner, round of 16; mixed doubles – Parker Miller and Jessica Singer, third.
The Class 4A Region I tournament will be held April 16-17 at the Rose Park Tennis Courts in Abilene.
Tennis coaches are Jeff Bramlett and Denise Scott.
