Nine Pirate track student athletes are advancing to regionals after qualifying at the District 7-4A meet held April 11-12, 2012, at Joshua High School.
 
Advancing to the regional meet in individual events were: Brandon Davis, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash; John Finn, pole vault; and Kristian Samaniego, 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run.
 
Two relay team also qualified: 800-meter relay team of Ayden Broadwater, Davis, Kevin Hennard, and Kwaun Shaw; and 1600-meter relay team of Jacob Cain, David Henney, Travis Hord, and Shaw.
 
Those elgible to go as alternates are Aleck Blohowiak (1600-meter run), Mike Milson (pole vault), and Austen Wade (long jump and triple jump).
 
The varsity boys placed third overall, with the junior varsity team was fourth.

  • 3200 Meter Run: Kristian Samaniego, 10:36, first (regional qualifier); Jeff Shanahan, 12:01.94, eighth.
  • 110 Meter Hurdles: Brendan Crosslin, 17.29, seventh; Charles Wallace, 18.00, eighth.
  • 300 Meter Hurdles: Westley Kren, 44.99, eighth.
  • 4x200 Meter Relay: Ayden Broadwater, Brandon Davis, Kevin Hennard, Kwaun Shaw, 1:30.86, third (regional qualifier).
  • 4x400 Meter Relay: Jacob Cain, David Henney, Travis Hord, Kwaun Shaw, 3:32.57, second (regional qualifier).
  • Discus Throw: J.D. Brewer, 132-07, fifth; Jason Shephard, 110-06, tenth; Johnny Shephard, 107-00, twelfth.

The Region I-4A track and field meet will be held on April 27-28 at Elmer Gray Stadium on the campus of Abilene Christian University.
