Sierra Smith, libero for the Granbury Lady Pirate volleyball team, announced that she will be continuing her education and playing career at Texas State University in San Marcos. The announcement was made on May 15, 2012, at Granbury High School.
In college next year, she will be playing for the Bobcat women’s volleyball team, which competes in the NCAA Division I’s Southland Conference.
A three-year varsity letterman, Smith earned numerous district and team honors throughout her high school playing career, which saw the Lady Pirates advance to the Class 4A regional quarterfinals each year.
As a senior, she was named District 7-4A outstanding defensive player as well as the team’s defensive player of the year. During her junior year in 2010, she earned first-team all-district honors as well as defensive leader accolades for the team. As a sophomore, she received honorable mention recognition from the district while taking home the team’s Will to Win award.
