Anna Roe, interim assistant principal at Acton Elementary School, was officially named the school’s next principal by the Granbury ISD Board of Trustees during the monthly school board meeting on May 21, 2012.
“I believe Anna brings the enthusiasm, professionalism, and a true passion for children and learning that I am looking for,” said incoming superintendent Dr. James Largent. “She impressed our committee with two tremendous interviews, and we are all confident that she will be a great fit for the campus and continue the fine tradition at AES.”
Roe will succeed Ralph Purget, who is retiring this summer after leading the school since 2001.
The incoming principal has been at Acton Elementary since 2007. She previously taught pre-kindergarten and fourth grade and also served as an intervention specialist prior to assuming her current responsibilities, which also include coordinating a mentor program and sponsoring the student council. She was the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2010.
Roe began her career in 2004 as a first grade teacher at Jackie Carden Elementary School in Crowley, where she worked prior to coming to Granbury.
She received a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Tarleton State University and later earned a Master of Education from Lamar University.
