New student council officers will be at the helm of Acton Middle School for the 2012-13 school year.
The new officers are: Bailey Vernon, president; Andi Smith, vice president; Alexandra Weaver, secretary; and Molly Shade, treasurer. The students will be in eighth grade next school year.
The group is planning to attend a summer workshop to prepare for their new leadership roles and to learn innovative ideas to help their school and community.
Each year, the student council undertakes several community service projects such as toy and canned food drives. The leaders also promote school observances such as Red Ribbon Week.
Council sponsors are Scott Carpenter, Deanna Conner, and Kathryn Cox.
