GRANBURY SCHOOL COMMUNITY SADDENED BY DEATH OF FORMER STUDENT

August 30, 2007

Students, teachers, and staff members in Granbury schools are saddened by the death of Joshua Fant, a recent graduate who passed away on Wednesday evening after suffering from heat stroke during baseball workouts at North Central Texas College.

“Josh exemplified the ideal of seizing the day and living life to the fullest,” said Principal Marsha Grissom.  “He always tried to do the right thing the first time, and he was constantly trying to help others.”

Pat Watson, who coached Fant on the Pirate Baseball team, said, “Josh was a very determined kid.  He loved baseball and being around other people.”  At Granbury High School, Fant played on the varsity team for three years and pitched in district playoff games the last two.

School counselors are available for current students who need to meet on an individual basis.
