A full-time employee who retires from the District shall be eligible for reimbursement for local leave under the following conditions:

    1. The employee’s retirement is voluntary, i.e., the employee is not being discharged or nonrenewed.
    2. The employee provides advance written notice of intent to retire by February 1 of the duty year in which the retirement will occur.

For purposes of this provision, the duty year for an exempt, 12-month employee retiring at the end of August shall extend through his or her final day of service with the District.

An eligible employee shall be reimbursed for each day of local leave at his or her daily rate or $100 per day, whichever is less, to a maximum of $3,000 in accordance with the following:

    School year

The rate established by the Board shall be in effect until the Board adopts a new rate. Any changes to the rate shall apply beginning with the school year following the adoption of the rate change.

  • Expiration of Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act

Posted by GISD Human Resources Dept. on 12/18/2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed a bill that required certain employers to provide paid leave to employees impacted by the coronavirus.

The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act assisted working families facing public health emergencies arising out of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“Covid-19”) global pandemic.  EPSL was provided under the Families First Coronavirus Act (“FFCRA”) and became effective on April 1, 2020. The FFCRA paid leave provisions apply to qualifying leave taken between April 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020.

The EPSL and its requirements expire on December 31, 2020, and any unused EPSL cannot be carried over to the next calendar year.
