June 17, 2009 - Stacie Brown has been named the new principal for Brawner Intermediate School by Granbury ISD superintendent Ron Mayfield.

GHS CHEERLEADERS SELECTED FOR 2009-10 SCHOOL YEAR
June 15, 2009 - Varsity cheerleaders for Granbury High School were recently selected for the 2009-10 school year. The students previously were underclassmen at GHS or Crossland Ninth Grade Center.

STATE EXAM RE-TESTS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 14-17
June 16, 2009 - Students needing to take exit-level state exams will have an opportunity to take re-tests, which will be administered at Granbury High School and STARS Academy on July 14-17, 2009.

GRANBURY ISD SCHOOL BOARD WAIVES TUITION FOR PECAN PLANTATION STUDENTS DURING NEGOTIATION PERIOD
June 9, 2009 - The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on May 18, 2009, and approved a recommendation from Superintendent Ron Mayfield to waive out-of-district tuition for a group of students residing in a portion of Pecan Plantation located in Johnson County and Cleburne ISD. Mayfield called the waiver, which only applies to the 2009-10 school year, a "good faith" step while he pursues negotiations with the Cleburne school district.

TWO EXEMPLARY CAMPUSES LEAD PRELIMINARY ACCOUNTABILITY RATINGS
June 8, 2009 - Two campuses in Granbury ISD will likely receive Exemplary accountability ratings from the Texas Education Agency based on preliminary state test scores received by the school district. The announcement came at the June 8 meeting of the Granbury ISD Board of Trustees.

June 8, 2009 - STARS Academy held Spring graduation exercises on the evening of June 5, 2009, at Acton United Methodist Church. Forty-six students received high school diplomas during the ceremony.

GHS STUDENT EARNS SCHOLARSHIP TO UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
June 2, 2009 - Granbury High School student Paloma Nunez will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the Fall with an academic scholarship covering eighty percent of her educational expenses. She will also have the opportunity to join the ladies’ golf team at the university.

June 2, 2009 - Cheerleaders for Crossland Ninth Grade Center were recently selected for the 2009-10 school year. The students are currently eighth graders at Acton Middle School or Granbury Middle School.

May 29, 2009 - Forty-five students attending STARS Academy will receive their high school diplomas at Spring graduation exercises to be held on the evening of Friday, June 5, 2009. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 P.M. at Acton United Methodist Church.

SERVICE ACADEMY APPOINTEES RECOGNIZED AT MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
May 26, 2009 - Four Granbury High School students were recognized by U.S. Representative Chet Edwards during a Memorial Day ceremony held on May 23, 2009, at the new U.S. Veterans Museum. The four students will be attending service academies following their high school graduation.

May 26, 2009 - Schools in Granbury ISD will dismiss classes early on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, which is the last day of the school year for students. STARS Academy students will have classes through Friday, June 5, 2009.
