Granbury ISD names Jennifer Anderson as Director of Special Programs

Granbury ISD announced at the May 19 school board meeting that Jennifer Anderson has been appointed as the Director of Special Programs. Anderson comes to GISD from Muenster ISD, where she held the same position since 2023. Anderson takes over for Shelly Curtsinger, who announced her retirement after 40 years in education, including the last 19 years at Granbury.

With over two decades of experience in public education, Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and dedication to serving students with diverse learning needs.

“Jennifer is a passionate, student-centered leader who understands both the instructional and operational components of special education,” said Dr. Courtney Morawski, Superintendent of Granbury ISD. “Her broad experience and proven leadership will be a tremendous asset to our district as we continue to enhance services for all learners.”

Anderson most recently served as Director of Special Education at Muenster ISD, where she successfully established and managed the district's special education department. Her responsibilities included overseeing all special education programming, staff development, compliance with state and federal requirements, and the supervision and evaluation of specialized staff.

Prior to Muenster, Anderson worked in the DFW-area from 2016-23, serving as a Special Education Coordinator and ECSE teacher at Keller ISD, an Elementary Diagnostician at Northwest ISD and High School Diagnostician at Little Elm ISD. She was also a classroom teacher in Crandall, Kemp, and Eustace ISD’s where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2007 at Kemp ISD.

"I’m thrilled to begin this new journey with a district committed to inspiring excellence,” Anderson said. “Together, we’ll continue to empower every learner, celebrate every difference, and build a future where all voices are heard and all students thrive."

Anderson holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education with Diagnostician Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
