Granbury High School freshman Paola Lumbreras has been named one of the Top 300 Junior Innovators in the United States by the Society for Science.
Paola’s research project, originally submitted through the Fort Worth Science and Engineering Fair, earned her this prestigious honor. Last February, she won first place at the fair in the Medical and Health Sciences Division with her project titled “Investigating Natural Antioxidants as Protective Agents Against Alcohol and Nicotine-Induced Fetal Developmental Abnormalities.” She is the only student from the Fort Worth region to receive this recognition and one of just 51 students selected from across Texas. She is the first student in Granbury ISD history to earn this national honor of a Top 300 Junior Innovator.
As a Top 300 Junior Innovator, Paola is now under consideration for the Top 30 finalists, who will be invited to Washington, D.C. to compete for the program’s $75,000 grand prize. Finalists will be announced on September 17, 2025.
