Granbury Independent School District has been selected as a grant winner for the inaugural cohort of the Raise Your Hand Texas Community Leaders Fellowship, a new statewide initiative designed to strengthen local leadership and advocacy in public education.
Raise Your Hand Texas recently announced the launch of the Fellowship, naming 29 school districts across the state to participate in the first cohort. The program serves as the premier offering within the organization’s newly established Education Advocacy Academy and represents the next evolution of its well-known Trustee Advocates Program — expanding beyond school board members to include a broader coalition of community voices.
The 18-month Fellowship will bring together local teams made up of parents, educators, business leaders, and school trustees to develop the skills and knowledge needed to effectively engage in state education policy through a non-partisan, student-centered approach. Participants will receive training and resources to help them find, use, and amplify their voices on issues impacting Texas public schools.
“Being selected for this fellowship is a tremendous honor and an opportunity for our district and community to help shape the future of public education in Texas,” said Dr. Courtney Morawski, Superintendent of Granbury ISD. “We are proud to represent Granbury alongside districts from across the state and to continue advocating for policies that support students, educators, and schools.”
Granbury ISD is one of 29 districts selected statewide for Cohort 1, joining Abilene ISD, Alamo Heights ISD, Belton ISD, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, Corpus Christi ISD, Lewisville ISD, Liberty Hill ISD, Plano ISD, San Marcos CISD, Wylie ISD, and others.
Through the Fellowship, Granbury ISD will collaborate with community partners and education leaders to strengthen advocacy efforts, share best practices, and ensure local perspectives are represented in conversations at the Capitol.
