Mambrino Fifth Grader Dane McCarthy Competes in Fort Worth Regional Scripps Spelling Bee

The STEAM Academy at Mambrino is proud to recognize fifth-grade student Dane McCarthy for competing in the Fort Worth Regional Scripps Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 7 at Texas Wesleyan University.

Dane advanced to the regional competition after first winning the Mambrino campus spelling bee and then earning the top spot at the Granbury ISD / Area 17 Spelling Bee. His journey to regionals is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and love of language.

The regional bee featured 25 top spellers from public, private, and charter schools across the area in grades K–8 and lasted 12 rounds before a champion was crowned. The top two finishers advanced to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

Competing at the regional level is an outstanding accomplishment, and we are proud of Dane for representing Granbury ISD and the STEAM Academy at Mambrino so well. Congratulations, Dane!
