Granbury ISD Chief Financial Officer Emmett Whitefield Announces Retirement

Granbury ISD Chief Financial Officer Emmett Whitefield has announced his retirement, concluding a 27-year career in public education, including 25 school years of service to Granbury ISD.

Whitefield began his career in February 1999 as a staff accountant in Granbury ISD. Over the course of his career, he served in several financial leadership roles in both Granbury ISD and Weatherford ISD, including accounting manager, district comptroller, director of accounting, and director of finance/facilities. In 2021, he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Granbury ISD, a role he held until his retirement.

“It has been an honor to serve Granbury ISD and to work alongside so many dedicated colleagues throughout my career,” Whitefield said. “I am thankful for the relationships I have built over the years and for the opportunity to support the work happening across this great district. Seeing the commitment of our staff and the success of our students has made this work especially meaningful. I also want to thank the superintendents I have had the privilege to serve under in Granbury ISD, including William Harris, Ron Mayfield, Jim Largent, Jeremy Glenn, and Courtney Morawski. Thank you for your leadership, trust, and support.”

Throughout his career, Whitefield played an important part in helping ensure strong financial stewardship and accountability for the district. Under his leadership, Granbury ISD regularly received an A rating for Superior Achievement along with a perfect district score of 100 — the highest recognition a Texas school district can achieve for financial accountability. At the time of his retirement, the district has earned a Superior Achievement rating for 10 consecutive years, including three straight years with a perfect score.

In 2011, Whitefield completed the requirements to earn the designation of Registered Texas School Business Administrator from the Texas Association of School Business Officials.

“Emmett Whitefield has served Granbury ISD with excellence, integrity, and a deep commitment to public education,” Morawski said. “His dedication to this district, our schools, and the Granbury community has helped position us for success. We are grateful for his years of service, his careful stewardship of district resources, and the steady leadership he has provided throughout his career. Emmett’s impact on Granbury ISD will be felt for years to come, and we wish him nothing but the very best in retirement.”

Granbury ISD will soon begin the process of selecting the next Chief Financial Officer. The district will share updates with staff and the community as the search moves forward.
