Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell visited Granbury High School Thursday morning to present official Proclamations recognizing two outstanding achievements on the national stage.
Senator Birdwell honored the Granbury High School Stowaways for winning multiple national titles and earning Grand National Champion honors in both team and officer divisions at the 2026 MA Dance Nationals. The Stowaways are led by Director Shelby Sargent and Assistant Director Emily Beane.
He also recognized senior Viola Allen of the Granbury High School MCJROTC Rifle Team. Allen captured the Individual National Championship and set a new MCJROTC National Finals record at the 2026 JROTC All-Service National Championships with a score of 469.0. The record surpassed the previous mark held by Granbury alum Kennedy Wells, continuing the program’s tradition of national-level excellence. Allen will continue her rifle career at Texas Christian University.
“We are incredibly proud of these students for representing Granbury ISD with excellence at the highest level,” said Duane Fish, principal of Granbury High School. “We appreciate Senator Birdwell for taking time to recognize their hard work and accomplishments.”
Granbury ISD congratulates the Stowaways, Viola Allen, the MCJROTC Rifle Team, and all coaches, sponsors, and families who helped make these achievements possible.
