Granbury High School Lady Pirates Earn 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll Recognition

The Granbury High School Lady Pirate volleyball team has once again been recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Lady Pirates also received the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll distinction, recognizing them among the top 20 percent of team GPAs nationally in their division.

The AVCA Team Academic Award recognizes high school and collegiate volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).

"This recognition is a testament to the dedication and work ethic of our student-athletes," said Granbury High School Head Volleyball Coach Des Shahan. "Our players strive to excel in every aspect of the student-athlete experience, and we're incredibly proud to see their commitment in the classroom recognized at the national level."

The additional Team Academic Honor Roll distinction places the Lady Pirates among the nation's top academic volleyball programs, highlighting a culture that values achievement both in competition and in the classroom.

Granbury ISD congratulates the Lady Pirate volleyball team, coaching staff, teachers, and families on this outstanding accomplishment and for continuing to represent the district with excellence.
