Granbury ISD is proud to announce that Heather Dollins of STARS Accelerated High School has been named the Texas Association for Alternative Education (TAAE) Alternative Educator of the Year, one of the organization's highest honors recognizing excellence in alternative education across the state.
The prestigious award recognizes educators who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to serving students through innovation, compassion, and exceptional leadership in alternative education settings. According to the Texas Association for Alternative Education, Dollins is "exceptionally deserving" of the honor and has made STARS Accelerated High School "undeniably a better place for our students and staff because of her presence."
At STARS Accelerated High School, Dollins has dedicated herself to helping students overcome challenges, achieve academic success, and realize their potential. Through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a student-centered approach, she has made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students.
"Heather has a remarkable ability to see the potential in every student and meet them exactly where they are,” STARS Principal Margaret Rodriquez said. “She builds meaningful relationships, creates an environment where students feel valued and supported, and inspires them to believe in themselves. Her passion for education and unwavering commitment to our students make her incredibly deserving of this recognition.
