Granbury High School’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) has once again earned national recognition, continuing a longstanding tradition of excellence among the nation’s top programs.
For the 2025–26 school year, the Granbury MCJROTC Battalion was named a Naval Honor School for the 13th consecutive year and received the Marine Corps Reserve Association Award, ranking No. 1 in its national school-population category for the sixth consecutive year.
With 244 Marine Corps JROTC units nationwide, the recognition places Granbury High School’s program among approximately the top 3 percent of MCJROTC programs in the country.
The Naval Honor School designation recognizes programs that demonstrate exceptional performance in areas including leadership, academics, community service, discipline, teamwork and overall program excellence.
Beyond the national recognition, the designation also provides an important opportunity for Granbury High School cadets. As a Naval Honor School, Granbury’s Senior Marine Instructor is authorized to submit formal nominations for qualified cadets to the United States Naval Academy, United States Air Force Academy and United States Military Academy at West Point.
The designation provides cadets with an additional service academy nomination pathway beyond nominations available through members of Congress. Cadets receiving a nomination must still meet each academy’s academic, physical, medical and character requirements and compete for an appointment.
The opportunity also allows the accomplishments of current cadets to benefit future generations of Granbury MCJROTC students, continuing a tradition that has been built and sustained over more than a decade.
Granbury ISD congratulates the MCJROTC cadets and instructors on another outstanding achievement and thanks district and campus leadership, teachers, parents, the MCJROTC Booster Club, alumni and community partners for their continued support of the program.
Six consecutive years ranked No. 1. Thirteen consecutive Naval Honor School designations. One enduring standard of excellence.
