For the second consecutive year, Granbury ISD has been named a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT), recognizing the district's continued excellence in Career and Technical Education (CTE), innovative programming, and commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school.
The prestigious recognition celebrates school districts across Texas that demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, and dedication to student success through high-quality CTE programs. Earning the designation in back-to-back years highlights Granbury ISD's sustained commitment to expanding career pathways, strengthening workforce partnerships, and providing students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
The CTE District of Distinction program, established by CTAT, recognizes districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in career and technical education, and serve as models of excellence for other districts across the state.
"To receive this recognition for a second consecutive year speaks volumes about the quality of our CTE programs and the dedication of the educators who make these opportunities possible," said Granbury ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski. "At Granbury ISD, we believe every student deserves a pathway to success, and our Career and Technical Education programs are helping turn that belief into reality. From earning industry certifications to gaining hands-on experience in high-demand fields, our students are building skills that will serve them long after graduation. We are incredibly proud of our CTE team for continuing to raise the bar and creating opportunities that prepare our students to be future ready."
Granbury High School's CTE programs extend well beyond traditional classroom instruction, providing students with opportunities to develop real-world skills, earn industry-recognized credentials, and compete in ten Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) at the state and national levels.
Granbury ISD offers courses in 12 of the 14 Texas Education Agency-approved career clusters, supported by 40 CTE teachers at Granbury High School and additional instructors across the district's middle schools. During the 2025–26 school year, 94% of GHS students were enrolled in at least one CTE course, with students averaging 1.84 CTE courses each. Additionally, students earned 551 industry-based certifications (IBCs), and 321 graduating seniors earned at least one industry-based certification during their high school careers.
The district's CTE programs have experienced significant growth in recent years, with industry-based certifications increasing from 109 in 2020–21 to 551 in 2025–26. This progress reflects Granbury ISD's continued investment in high-quality instruction, expanded career pathways, and opportunities that connect classroom learning to workforce expectations.
"Being recognized for a second straight year is a tremendous accomplishment, but what makes this honor especially meaningful is the continued progress we see in our students and programs," said Granbury ISD CTE Director Todd Gibson. "Our teachers are doing an outstanding job connecting classroom instruction with the skills and experiences employers are looking for. Through strong partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders, we are creating opportunities for students to explore careers, earn valuable credentials, and gain a competitive advantage before they graduate. This recognition reinforces that we are building something special at Granbury ISD, and we are committed to continuing that momentum."
Through programs in engineering, health science, business, agriculture, culinary arts, law enforcement, aviation, automotive technology, and more, Granbury ISD provides students with opportunities to explore their interests while developing technical skills, leadership abilities, and professional experience.
The district's continued recognition as a CTE District of Distinction reflects its commitment to ensuring students are equipped for multiple pathways after graduation, whether entering the workforce, pursuing postsecondary education, joining the military, or continuing their training in a skilled trade.
