Granbury ISD Names Valerie Cooper as New Director of Career and Technical Education

Granbury ISD has named Valerie Cooper as its new Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE), effective January 2027. Cooper brings a diverse background in education, instructional leadership, career and technical education, and district operations to her new role.

Cooper joins Granbury ISD with experience spanning elementary and secondary education, instructional technology, business and marketing education, and school district administration. Her background in developing industry-relevant curriculum, building community partnerships, and supporting student achievement will help strengthen the district's CTE programs and expand opportunities for students.

"We are excited to welcome Valerie Cooper to Granbury ISD as our next Director of Career and Technical Education," said Granbury ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski. "Valerie brings a unique combination of classroom experience, instructional leadership, and business expertise that will be a tremendous asset to our district. Her passion for student success and commitment to creating meaningful, real-world learning opportunities align with our vision of preparing students for success beyond graduation. We look forward to the leadership she will bring to our outstanding CTE programs."

Most recently, Cooper served as a teacher at Glen Rose ISD. Prior to that role, she spent three years as an Instructional Technology Specialist with Lewisville ISD, where she supported technology integration across secondary campuses, provided professional development for educators, and collaborated with district leadership to strengthen instructional programs.

From 2017 to 2022, Cooper served as a Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship teacher and administrative intern at Lewisville High School. During that time, she developed curriculum connecting classroom instruction to real-world business applications, mentored student entrepreneurship teams, and partnered with community business leaders to provide students with hands-on learning experiences. She also served in campus leadership roles and presented at local, state, and national professional development conferences.

Cooper's professional experience also includes serving as a Senior Buyer in Federal Procurement for Lewisville ISD and holding multiple positions with Irving ISD, including CTE, Buyer, and Accounts Payable Clerk. These roles provided valuable experience in district operations, financial compliance, and program support.

"I am honored and excited to join Granbury ISD and lead its Career and Technical Education programs," Cooper said. "CTE plays such an important role in helping students discover their interests, develop valuable skills, and prepare for their futures. I look forward to working alongside our talented teachers, campus leaders, and community partners to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue expanding meaningful opportunities for every student."

Cooper earned her Master of Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler and her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Business from Tarleton State University. She also holds an Associate of Arts in Teaching from North Lake College. Her professional certifications include Principal, Business and Finance, Family and Consumer Sciences, Marketing, and Generalist EC–6, along with the Texas Association of School Business Officials' Certified Texas School Business Official (CTSBO) designation.

Valerie and her husband of 20 years, Jason, who serves as the Director of CTE for Cleburne ISD, have two children: Averie, 18, a high school senior, and Jaxon, 14, a high school freshman.
