Why Enroll in Granbury ISD Pre-Kindergarten Program
Elementary Readiness
Students who attend pre-kindergarten show higher levels of readiness in language and literacy, thinking skills, behavioral self-control, and confidence.
New Experiences
Students who attend pre-kindergarten are immersed in a diverse population of peers and a culture of curiosity and exploration in the classroom, offering them new perspectives and learning experiences.
Academic Performance
Students who attend pre-kindergarten score higher on kindergarten entry diagnostics as well as on future standardized tests than students who did not attend.
Pre-Kindergarten New Student Enrollment
Enrollment for all Pre-Kindergarten students for the 2026-2027 school year will be completed online. Enrollment opens on April 1, 2026. If you meet the state eligibility criteria for Pre-K, complete the following application.

- is unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
- is educationally disadvantaged163 (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program, economically disadvantaged; or
- is homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1143a, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child's guardian or other person having lawful control of the child; or
- is the child165 of an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
- is the child166 of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
- is or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas DFPS (foster care) following an adversary hearing, has been in foster care in another state or territory, if the child resides in this state ; or
- is the child167 of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award such as: o a peace officer under Texas Government Code, §3106.002 o a firefighter under Texas Government Code, §3106.003 o an emergency medical first responder under Texas Government Code, §3106.004; or
- is the child of a person employed as a classroom teacher at a public primary or secondary school in the school district that offers a pre-K class under this section.
