Granbury ISD Bad Weather Notification Procedures
  • During the winter season, we may experience inclement weather that could possibly cause our schools to open late or to close.  The following procedures will be followed if this becomes necessary:
    During inclement weather, a decision will be made by 6:00 A.M. to delay or to close schools.
    A notice will immediately be posted on the Granbury ISD website at
    Announcements will be posted on the district Facebook and Twitter pages. Text messages will be sent to subscribers to the district's Remind service (to sign up, text @grbyisd to 81010), and notifications will be sent through the district's mobile app available through both iTunes and Google Play app stores.
    The district will send an automated phone call to all parents. Please ensure that the school has your correct phone numbers.  To provide updates, a Student Information Change Form may be submitted to your child’s campus office.
    In addition, the decision will be sent to local news media and major regional television and radio stations. GISD cannot guarantee that all media will report the decision. It is wise to check multiple media sources as well as refer to the GISD website and social media sites.
    In the event the school opening is delayed, the notice will be given as an amount of time, i.e. "School will start 2 hours late."  This sample message indicates that all schedules, including buses, will be operating two hours later than the normal operating time.
    Our primary concern is for the safety of our students and staff.  If your child is tardy due to hazardous roads, please contact your child's principal and an excused tardy/absence will be issued.
