    We are pleased to be able to serve you and your family.   We hope this information helps as you transition to a new school.   Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can better serve your needs.
     
    FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 

    Doors open at 7:45am

    Breakfast starts in cafe at 8am

    Students may eat THEN report directly to waiting area

    6th waiting area - small gym

    7th waiting area - main gym east

    8th waiting area - main gym west

    First bell rings at 8:26am 

    NEW OFFICIAL SCHEDULES WILL BE HANDED OUT IN 1st PERIOD ON FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

    NO SCHEDULE CHANGES WILL BE MADE ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

    Buses will run slower then normal first week of school, so patience!

     

    AMS Teachers will be in available for any questions or help.

    I need to change my schedule

    Go to the Counselor’s office for a request change form to complete.  Each Schedule change request will be reviewed individually.

    I lost my school ID

    Go the library. The first ID is free, and a replacement ID costs $5.

    Two charges are allowed in the lunch line

    The cashier in the lunch line will help you. You may not charge in the snack bar line.

    Bring a note to the front office from your parent or doctor the day you return to school

    I need to ride the bus

    Go to the front office or ask your teacher.  GISD Transportation website has bus stop details online.

    I have my cell phone

    Keep it turned off during school hours. If your phone is taken up by a teacher, there is a $10 fee to get it back.

    This is up to you! Please follow our cell phone rules! J  AMS is not responible for student electronic devices, so take extra care and be responsible if you choose to bring an electronic item.

    I’m out of dress code

     

    Go to the Assistant Principals’ office for something else to wear. You may also have a parent bring another item of clothing to you.

    Someone is bullying me

    (AMS does NOT tolerate bullying!)

    Immediately report the situation to the nearest adult. Tell the bully to STOP! If the situation continues, report the problem to your counselor or the Assistant Principals.

    Make an appointment with the Principal’s secretary in front office.  We highly encouraging to set a time to meet in order to ensure an administrator is available.

    AMS Teachers use Skyward and Google Classroom as the main academic and communication platforms.

    I’m not sure when school starts and ends

    Start time is 8:36

    End time is   4:15

    Your teacher will let you know if you are late to class.   Bell schedules are posted in the hallways

    I want to eat breakfast at school

    Go to the cafeteria where breakfast is served from 8:00-8:25 each morning.

    I don’t know where to go when I get to school

    6th grade: Small Gym

    7th grade: Large Gym East Side

    8th grade: Large Gym West Side

    I am tardy to class

     

    Walk quickly and shorten time with your friends.  ALWAYS use the restroom between classes before visiting with friends

    Teachers will mark you tardy in Skyward if you are late, and you only get one free tardy per grading period.
