"BE the difference you want to see in the world."

Never in a million years whould I have believed that I'd become a HS English teacher as a senior in highschool, but here I am, and I've been loving it for 18 years now.
I was an athlete and an artist who struggled with spelling, however I am also the type who is going to prove you wrong if you tell me I CAN'T do something, and that is just what I have done.  I had to work harder, but I was determined, and that seems to be a constant mantra throughout my life. I have always believed that there is beauty in the breaking and all suffering is useful for growth if we choose to use it to become better than we were before.
I have been married to my college sweetheart for 31 years, and we served as youth ministers for the first 4 years of our marriage before moving to Granbury to raise our family.  I have two adult children and one grandson, and I am blessed to live in the same town as most of my immediate family.  I am the oldest of 4 siblings, and many of you likely went to HS with them if you graduated from GHS in the late 1990s.
I love my profession, and I am thankful to have been called to public education.  I love teaching, but more than that, I love my students and what they have to teach me.
Most of the time, my classes become family by the end of the year, and I stay in touch with the ones who reach out; many have become life-long friends through the decades.
My hobbies are lifting, biking, kayaking, 4 wheeling, hiking, art in many forms, reading, and writing.  Also, I have always had a deep love for horses, and I hope to have them again when I retire in a few years.
I love adventure, and after retirement, I hope to live from an RV with my hubby and travel all over the US, staying in the mountain areas in the summer and the southern states in the winters.  But for now, I believe that life is a journey, not a destination, so I try to live each day in the moment to its fullest.
Thank you for entrusting me with your education...or the education of your beloved children...I appreciate you, and I am grateful that I GET TO!
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Bitner

    Michelle
